We strongly believe that providing an environment in which people strive and are intrinsically motivated will make organizations most successful and increase many people's happiness.
How can your team or organization benefit?
The founders of the POD Framework are Head of Engineering/ Development at two of the largest e-commerce stores in Switzerland. We share concepts and techniques we use every day in real life with real teams. All of these aim to support a modern culture of continuous improvement, enabling employees to personal growth and to puts teams in the center.
These techniques are based on:
- Recent research by some of the most renounced scientists in the world
- Best practices from other companies such as Spotify, Google, Netflix, etc.
- A lot of literature around company culture, leadership, personal development, and motivation
- And years of experimentation within our companies
What challenge does the POD Framework try to solve?
There are plenty of resources out there to create a modern culture. However, the challenge often is to apply the content to real life.
The POD Framework tries to support two common situations we often face in a professional context.
Improve frequent activities
You would like to improve your skills for reoccurring activities in a specific field. This could be that you want to improve the efficiency of meetings in your team.
Handle infrequent challenges
You are facing a challenge that appears seldom, but it is important to solve it well. E.g. a conflict is escalating and you need to mitigate it.
Our filters make it easy to navigate to relevant internal or external content.
We found that improvement works best if it happens in small chunks continuously over time. This is why most content is prepared as “micro-interventions” - knowledge or exercises that can be consumed in less than 15min. There is usually a link for a deep-dive to get extended information about the topic.
Challenges with other resources
We are trying to resolve some of the challenges with some available resources:
Professional training programs
Many of the professional training programs teach great things. They are often delivered in a compact session of a few hours to a few days. The challenge is the amount of content as well as to remember the learned knowledge till the next suitable situation to apply it. This is why only a fraction of it will actually be applied.
Books
They are great for continuous learning in the field of your current interest. You could read a few pages every night and learn at your preferred speed. Many books make it hard to apply the content in your job as they are often about general concepts or may not be quite relevant for current situations at work.
Blogs, articles, and websites
Similar to books they are great to learn at your speed. It is often hard to find the content you are searching for at the quality you with. The noise of useless information makes it often inefficient.
Research
Research is often the most reliable source. However, it is usually hard to understand and not prepared to be applied in your team.
You don't know what you don't know
The last big challenge is to get inspiration in fields in which you are not an expert yet.
